Import of a small aircraft via sea freight in summer 2025
A client who had previously been in contact with our Hahn office inquired with JL Logistic in Frankfurt about whether we could import an aircraft from the USA to Germany via sea freight. We received the order on an ex-works basis (USA) and initiated the import process in close coordination with the client and our agent in the USA. The pickup took place in Englewood, Colorado.
At that location, specialists partially dismantled the aircraft to make it suitable for road transport. Once the necessary transport permits were secured, the aircraft was transported by truck from Englewood to Galveston, Texas. There, it - along with its detached components - was loaded onto a vessel for RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) sea freight shipment to Bremerhaven.
We made a point of personally attending the unloading process to ensure the highest level of service for the client. Two young employees from JL Logistic GmbH were granted permission to be present by the handling company after complying with all safety regulations. We would like to specifically commend the professional performance of the handling company in Bremerhaven, which carried out the unloading—from the vessel to the interim storage facility - with great efficiency and expertise. The aircraft after cleared customs and was transported to the client in Magdeburg.
The images document the process in the USA and the unloading operation in Germany.
